Waxing vs Shaving has been the topic of beauty enthusiasts debate as long as each method for hair removal has been available. It can be hard to decide, and everyone’s experience is different. As professionals in the aesthetic services industry, Collins Dental & Aesthetic answers some of the most common questions about waxing.
Is it painful?
Truth be told, there is some amount of pain associated with waxing, but we believe it is nominal. Depending on how frequently you wax and the strength of your hair follicles’ grip on the root of the hair being removed, there will be some pain as the hair is yanked out by the roots, but the pain passes quickly, and lessens as your hair thins and loosens with frequent waxing sessions. Some clients even get a rush of endorphins that gives them a natural buzz that cancels out the pain.
Does the hair really grow back slower?
It does. When you shave, it can seem like you have to shave every day to keep up with hair regrowth, but your hair doesn’t actually grow that fast. It just seems that way because the hairs you shave one day grow in a different cycle than the hairs you shave the next. The average person has approximately four different stages that are going on at any given point in the regrowth cycle. When you wax, the hairs are pulled out by the root so it takes longer for its cycle to regrow.
Does waxing benefit my skin?
Waxing delivers two skin benefits. The wax itself can help lock moisture in your skin and make it feel softer and smoother. The removal process removes toxins in the skin when the wax and attached hair are removed.
